The McMartin Preschool case is still one of the most disturbing examples of how mass fear and false accusations can destroy innocent lives. The idea that a family could be dragged through years of investigations, public humiliation, and a trial without any real evidence shows how dangerous moral panic can be. Looking back, it’s heartbreaking how easily people were convinced, and how much damage was done that could never be undone.
